raw pet food feeding guide

Welcome to our Raw Pet Food Feeding Guide!

We will outline how much you should feed your dog or cat and how you can easily transition to our raw pet food recipes - regardless of whether your making the change from kibble, freeze-dried, or a different raw food brand.

Since our products are 100% natural and use real muscle meat, your pet may find our raw food to be nutrient-dense at first. Ensuring a steady transition or a empty stomach at introduction is the best way for your pet to thrive from day one!

How to transition into Raw pet food?

Easily transition your Dog or Cat onto our fresh Raw food recipes!

There are 2 ways of switching that we recommend:

Intermittent Fast: Feed your dog their regular meal in the morning, have them hold an intermittent fast until evening the following day. Feed Raw that evening.

10-Day Transition (new Raw eaters & sensitive dogs): gradually start adding our Raw dinners to their meals while increasing the amount of Raw and reducing the amount of kibble on a daily basis.  A good rule of thumb is to add 10% of our raw and then remove 10% of kibble in 10 days your fur baby will be totally transferred to our Raw Recipe.

Remember that every FoeGuardian is unique and may require different recommendations depending on exercise, age & health.

Regularly weigh your pets and adjust their food based on their weight.

As a general rule of thumb, if you can feel their ribs without added pressure they are Underweight. If you cannot feel their ribs with added pressure they are likely Overweight.

Feeding Guide:

Start at the minimum recommendations. Add or remove portions as needed.

Cats require a diet with about 95% protein for a healthy metabolism, best achieved through farm-fresh raw food. Expect initial weight loss as their bodies use this high-protein diet for energy, unlike kibble, which stores as fat. A FoeGuard diet increases energy, appearance, and reduces anxiety.

Raw Food Thawing & Storage

Follow safe handling practices the same as you do when preparing meat for your family.

Once open, store your FoeGuard meal in a refrigerator and use within 4 days

How to defrost your raw pet food:

  1. Place your sealed FoeGuard pet food into a bowl.
  2. Thaw out your pet food in the fridge for 24 hours for optimal consistency. For a faster method, submerge the sealed pack in cold-water & change the water every 30-40 minutes until defrosted. Never defrost at room-temperature or by microwave*
  3. Do not dispose of any of the juices left-over, it is not blood, just remains of the natural ingredients and filled with nutrients. We are a human-grade raw pet food supplier so you should never find blood in your pet food.

Raw Pet Food Handling & Clean Up

Here's how to handle, clean and store raw pet food:

Wash your hands in warm soapy water before & after handling any raw meat.

Keep your fresh meat away from other foods, when refrigerating and in preparation.

Wipe all surfaces, utensils and counters with anti-bacterial cleaner or warm soapy water.
