How to introduce raw to your pet ?
There are 2 ways of switching to our raw food recipes.
- Fasting method: only for healthy dogs already on Raw. In this method feed your dog a regular meal in the morning and then fast the dogs that evening and next day morning. Start Raw that evening.
- For new Raw eaters & sensitive dogs gradually start adding our raw recipe to their meals while increasing the amount of our recipe and reducing the amount of kibble on a daily basis. A good rule of thumb is to add 10% of our raw and then remove 10% of kibble in 10 days your fur baby will be totally transferred to our Raw Recipe.
How often should you feed raw ?
We recommend feeding raw 6 days per week with 1 day being a ‘reset’ day where your FoeGuard should receive a treat/meal replacement instead of a meal.
Do I need to add supplementation to your food ?
At FoeGuard we believe in creating accessibility for all pet owners. This is why we offer a variety of dinners that are already nutritionally balanced so our FoeGuardians don’t have to worry about supplementation or day to day feeding. We also provide full personalization & protein based Primal Feast meals where customers can add their own supplementation.
How do I defrost, store and handle raw meat ?
Defrost: Overnight in the fridge or in room temperature water until raw meat is fully defrosted.
Store: Our raw recipes should be stored in the freezer & can be kept in the fridge up to 4 days after defrosting. Colors of our recipes may change slightly however that is due to oxidization and will not have any negative effects on your FoeGuard.
Handle: Always wash your hands with warm soapy water prior to and after handling any raw meat.
Can I cook Raw dog food ?
We highly recommend you do not cook your food. However, you can scald it with hot water.
Can puppies eat Raw dog food ?
Not only can your puppies eat raw, but they thrive on it! Raw food is great for puppies, adults & seniors. However, puppies require certain nutrients to enable healthy growth as well as specially grounded recipes to ensure they are easily digested. We carry a variety of puppy recipes for every protein to ensure your mini FoeGuardian gets the right nutrition.
Can I mix Raw with Kibble ?
We don’t recommended doing so as your pets digest raw very differently than kibble. If you do decide to mix, please try to feed 2 separate meals at different times of the day.

Should I feed my dog Raw or Kibble ?
In most circumstances, since Dogs, Cats & Ferrets are all carnivores they thrive on Raw diets. More so the ingredients used in kibble contain high salt content, processed additives and lack whole proteins that properly balanced Raw food does not.
Does Raw feeding effect my dogs allergies or digestive issues?
Unlike Kibble, Raw offers all natural ingredients which diminish many allergic reactions that pets normally have to preservatives, additives and other by-product’s that can negatively affect your FoeGuardian.
What benefits does a Raw diet have?
Raw feeding has numerous benefits that will have your FoeGuard living a happier, healthier lifestyle. Here are just some:

What negatives does a Raw diet have?
Any food of a perishable nature has the ability to do harm. This is why it is highly important for pet owners to understand the process of thawing out, storing and handling raw pet food. Feeding can also be dangerous if your pet is fed unbalanced meals consistently.
Why is my pet drinking less water on Raw ?
Due to the high salt content is kibble, pets drink drastically more water after eating dry pet food in comparison to FoeGuard raw which acts as a natural moisturizer and replenishes your pet for better health.
Why is my pet eating less on Raw ?
With raw feeding you will notice that your FoeGuard is eating less and that their stool is much smaller than before. Unlike Kibble, there are no additives in our recipes enabling all of the nutrients to be absorbed by your pet. This also prevents your pet from over eating and maintains a diet that is naturally healthy to them.
